This book was so helpful because it explains start-up terms concisely. Unlike other books that drone on and on, Founder's Guide explains a term, illustrates it and gives sample language. I really learned a lot in a short time.

Incredible book on cancer! Best I have seen, and it is the 16th cancer book in my library. It even seems more valuable than CANCER-FREE by Bill Henderson, that we used to "solve" my wife's Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, when we bought his 2nd edition, about 8.5 years ago. I have a health club here in The Villages, Florida, and have made 4 cancer presentations based on CANCER-FREE, and other information I have acquired. Had the opportunity to have dinner with Bill and his wife, and discuss health issues. I bought about 88 books from Bill directly (discounted, by-the- case) and passed them on to my members also discounted. Wonderful win-win situation! Great opportunity for clubs. He might still be selling books by the case. But now has his own battle with cancer and might not want to be bothered until he beats it. Bill Henderson is a real jewel. We just celebrated my wife's 10 year anniversary, since Mayo Clinic first diagnosed her cancer, and she appears completely cancer free. Plays 2 hours of tennis on Monday mornings, and 36 or more holes of golf, on championship courses, every week. Absolutely no symptoms what so ever. During these last 8.5 years since meeting Bill, and using his book, we used the Budwig Diet (3.5 tablespoons of flax oil), Transfer Point Beta Glucan (2.5 caps/day), Catalyn (3 per day, from Standard Process), and improved her diet (no ice cream, and more veggies primarily). Tried Essiac Tea for the first few weeks, but the taste was bad enough she would not continue it. I still make the Budwig Diet for lunch almost every day, for both of us. She has cut back to about 2 tablespoons of Flax Oil the last 6 months and I still use 3 tablespoons of FO. I have no cancer problems, but have found it has solved my rosacea and dry skin problems. It's also my "cheap" insurance against cancer, and is a great meal substitute. We have evolved to adding a frozen triple berry blend (from Sam's), orange juice, and stevia (Now Foods Better Stevia), after thoroughly mixing the FO and CC. This is the only recipe that we have been able to enjoy for a long period of time - over 3 years now. I actually look forward to lunch. Now time to review OUTSMART YOUR CANCER, 2nd Ed. I wished I had bought it when I first bought Cancer-Free, over 8 years ago. Tanya Pierce, like Bill, has taken a difficult topic, and done an excellent job for us lay people. Tanya defines jargon as she goes, and makes complex topics very clear. With 506 pages in OUTSMART vs 375 in CANCER-FREE, she has a lot more welcome details, that adds clarity and is much more interesting. At times, it was hard to put the book down. For example, her discussion on the Budwig Diet ("Flaxseed Oil and Cottage Cheese" page 207) added some very fascinating details on Dr. Budwig's problems as she developed her protocol. Like her boss wanting to bribe her into not publishing her findings, that would interfere with his financial interests. She said no, had to leave her position, and no one else would hire her, since her boss had blackballed her. But, then she was able to spend a lot more time with patients, and there are over 1000 documented cases where she cured serious cancer cases. And she gives better details on how it works. Very well done! I have multiple books covering Budwig, and hers is by far the best! But, best of all, she covers several treatments that I had not seen, or at least not in enough detail to make them sound effective and worth pursuing. Like: Protocel, 714X, Hoxsey, Cesium High pH Therapy and others. Anyone of these might have been able to save a friend, dying of Stage IV lung cancer recently. If only I had bought this book out 3 months earlier, I truly believe that either the Protocel or Cesium approach would have worked for him. She includes additional contact information at the end of each chapter, that includes other sources, phone numbers and website information, and likely costs involved. I've followed some of them, and they have been useful aslo. Bottom line: I would give it 6 or 7 stars if possible. If you have cancer, or are trying to help someone who does, this is the best single book that I would recommend. She does a good job of showing that there really are practical, effective, and non-toxic solutions available, and includes testimonials, both in the book and in her included audio CD. CANCER-FREE does a better job of providing valuable to help understand the "cancer establishment." Things like issues the patient will encounter with doctors, medical institutions, and even from well-meaning family and friends, and he makes an excellent suggestion of securing an advocate to help make decisions. If the budget allows buying both books, that would be the best of all worlds. If only one, I would go with Outsmart. As I recall, she is a retired nurse, and could do a bang up job.I highly recommend Ty Bollinger's: "The Truth About Cancer" website: [...]. He is very informative and proactive in fighting cancer, and probably the most active current crusader.

This book is a must have for anyone with cancer or knows someone with cancer. I was diagnosed in 2011 with kidney cancer, went to stage 4 in August 2013. A friend gave me Tanya's book. After doing one of the alternative protocols in the book, in April 2015 I was declared cancer free. During my research prior to choosing what protocol to do, I contacted people who are now cancer free using protocols from this book. Reading this book saved my life !!

Of course you can find negative reviews for every single cancer treatment out there, including chemo and radiation, and especially anything alternative. Big Pharma certainly doesn't want you using anything they can't charge you an arm and leg for! I watched my mother die from chemo so I have first hand knowledge of the fruitlessness of that. People whose cancer recedes after that hellish treatment have to have been very, very strong to survive the detrimental effects of the chemicals because it poisons the WHOLE body. The stories about Protocel are uplifting and the fact that the product has survived several of the FDA's attacks tells me it is a winner. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and had a lumpectomy. I am now taking a year of protocel to make sure no sneaky little cancer cells are trying to take up residence again. It costs slightly more than $100 a month and has no bad side effects I can detect. Many other solutions are listed in this terrific informational book but this is the one which rang the most true for me.

This book was a life saver for me as I had Waldenstrom's lymphoma. I did the Protocel and the doctors are no longer finding the cancer. Thank you Tanya for writing the book and telling anybody who will listen there are many options for treating cancer alternatively that can work. I have bought about 25 of your books to give to people with cancer. I wish I could give your book ten stars. Your book not only gives people hope but many viable options to treat cancer.

From a rather undistinguished background, with minimal formal education, and after suffering a horrific and disfiguring accident as a thirteen-year-old girl, Stark made a name for herself as one of the great British explorers and travel writers of the twentieth century. She was honored by the Royal Geographic Society and feted by all of Great Britain. Eventually she was knighted, becoming Dame Freya Stark. PASSIONATE NOMAD is an interesting biography of this remarkable woman.Broadly speaking, there are two aspects to Stark's career. The first was as an intrepid traveller, going places in the Middle East where few or no Europeans had gone before. Then she wrote about those places and her adventures in a series of books that belong in the top rank of British travel literature. Among her expeditions, Stark visited the mysterious Druze and explored the castle hideouts of the ancient Assassins in Syria; she explored remote areas of Iraq and Persia; and she traversed the southern Arabian Peninsula, even venturing into North Yemen. She suffered dengue fever, sandfly fever, malaria, and dysentery, and she had several close calls with death. She was aided by her ability to speak Arabic in any number of dialects, her knowledge of the Koran, her ability to improvise, her disregard for the comforts of European civilization, and sheer obstinacy.The other major area of accomplishment involved her work for the Ministry of Information during and after World War II. As an expert on the Arabs and the Middle East, she was recruited by the government to help keep the Arabs neutral and foster British political interests however she could. She was one of three hundred Europeans holed up in the British embassy during the month-long siege of Baghdad in May 1941. As the war wound down, Great Britain tabbed her to go to the United States as a representative and defender of what was then Britain's "fence-sitting" policy towards Palestine. Part of her message, which she truly believed, was that "it hardly made sense * * * to make the Palestinians pay with their homes and lands for injuries done to Jews by European Christians." The Americans were not persuaded and shortly thereafter the British too changed their policy.Author Geniesse does a good job of covering Stark's numerous achievements, and she does a better job of giving the reader a sympathetic sense of Freya Stark, who turns out to be a very complicated and sometimes even contradictory woman. Inwardly, she was insecure and craved affection; outwardly, she could be extremely charming, but also imperious, manipulative, and at times just plain bitchy. By middle age, she had become a British eccentric through and through.From the "How Things Have Changed" Department: "She discovered how safe it was for a woman to wander alone in an Islamic land, for despite what the missionary ladies told her, she had learned that Islamic tradition treats women with exquisite respect." One of the rare occasions on which she felt threatened was when, in Damascus, she was photographing ruins and an elderly man approached her, salaamed, and suggested that she follow him to see something even more interesting; he led her down dark and twisting streets to a public bath and ushered her into its dim interior where she was suddenly surrounded by nearly naked men in towels; "she thrust her camera before her face as if to take their picture, thanked them profusely, backed to the heavy door, and fled."My problem with the book is the author's style. It is too wordy, with too many rhetorical flourishes for my taste. Geniesse relies heavily on one device that particularly grates on me -- what I will call "no-one-could-have-foreseen foreshadowing". For example: "She could have no idea how squalid her circumstances would turn out to be, nor especially could she know that her visit to Damascus would be the first step on the way to an astonishing career." Or: "Two young members during the war were Lieutenants Gamal Nasser and Anwar Sadat, but neither Freya nor anyone else could suspect the future roles they would play." (And there are other such instances.)Geniesse quotes liberally from letters and books of Stark. (For what it's worth, Stark was a distinctly better writer.) There are nine pages of useful maps, although I wish that when cities or places were named in the text there were a cross-reference to the appropriate map on which the reader could locate them. There also are about sixty photographs, most of them intrinsically interesting but nearly all printed with exasperatingly inadequate resolution or clarity. (Several are so small and fuzzy as to be worthless.)P.S. The sentence with which I have entitled this review is from Stark's "Letters from Syria". What it describes has been true for me my entire life.

Dame Freya Stark (who died in 1993 at the age of 100) was, simply, an amazing, uppity, wild woman - WELL ahead of her time and full of the demons and insecurities that frequently propel the great among us to show their true colors. Having lived in the Middle East I was absolutely absorbed by this incredibly well-documented and tenderly written portrayal of a woman who eventually became one of the England's most favorite travelers and 'royal geographers' (and, some say, an accurate foreteller of Arab/Israeli conflict)! Stark struck out late in life (in her 30s) on a journey of solitary trips and exploration throughout Syria, Iran, Yemen, and other corners of the region, as well as living an extremely active British propagandist's life in Egypt during WW II. That she traveled alone in places where ne'er a Western woman had trod before is at first extraordinary, but in addition, she also had the skill, want, and presence of mind to write prolifically about her experiences and adventures, not only in the form of news articles but in detailed, emotional, voluminous letters to friends and family. And thank goodness. Stark's life was, in a sense, quite bi-polar. On the one hand she yearned to marry and have children and yet had she done that she would likely never have charted maps, discovered mythical ruins, and run rogue through various British attempts at diplomacy in the Middle East. Her parents split when she was young and her mother was a force to be reckoned with (and is probably responsible for destroying Freya's one attempt at a true marriage as well as destroying Freya's younger sister). Freya, in her search for marriage was drawn to gay men in the Royal British Foreign Service (whom she steadfastly refused to believe were gay). Outside of her (self-proclaimed) failed social achievements, her travel and her writing were extraordinary.Geniesee has done a spectacular job of keeping us, as readers, balanced in our views and Freya, as our "quarry" balanced as well. She shares with the reader the frustrations of people who did not understand Stark, and we read in a number of places about what a difficult travel companion she could be. The reader is also privy to Stark's somewhat bizarre social behavior in which she shuns close friends suddenly and for very (ostensibly) strange reasons. Geniesse, in other words, has done a good job of keeping her protagonist honest for us... something that biographers can sometimes find difficult to do (the urge to glorify or demonize may overtake). This is a monument to women everywhere who find great joy (I do, obviously) in reading about the women who blaze the trails, who reach beyond society's expectations for them, who go and do and learn because they want to, damn it. It was such a pleasure reading about this grand dame.

Spending time with interesting women who are inaccessible to us in real life is one of the pleasures of a good book and Jane Fletcher Geniesse has just added to the list. The author gives us a detailed account of the life of a fearless wanderer, Freya Stark, whose 100 years on earth (1893-1993)were packed with adventures to rival the tales of the Arabian Nights. Freya, though hardly living up to the attributes of her Norse namesake (no goddess of love and beauty, she!), nevertheless conquered the Arab world by making full use of her strengths: drive, intelligence, and an extraordinary empathy for the peoples of the Middle East. Geniesse does not dismiss her shortcomings but offers good reasons for the bizarre behavior of her heroine. She also handles the historical background with grace and understanding. It was an extraordinary time, made even more so by an indomitable English woman, and the author is to be congratulated for presenting her with such skill.

My lack of enthusiasm for this book stems from the poor print quality, not the content, which is highly readable in style, informative, with adequate illustrations and maps. However, the smaller than usual font is quite difficult for old eyes to read. Just increasing the font size would have made a world of difference. I bought the paperback version, rather than Kindle, for I knew that I would want to keep this book in my collection.

To start with, I've bought a few KH novels at this point and they've all had cosmetic wear and tear. It upsets me because I spend money on these and these books sometimes arrive with some noticeable wear and tear. That's my honest feedback, amazon, so if you don't post this review then that's ludicrous. My complaint fits the criteria for "honest feedback", as I am, need I remind you, an actual customer who bought the book.Other than that, in regards to the actual book. It's nearly identical to the game, so unless you have interest in reading one long recap of the story, you probably wont find anything here to enjoy unless you're a big BBS fan, which I happen to be.

Just got it today and I'm very excited to revisit this story I love :)

John Grinder and Richard Bandlers collaboration in Trance Formations truly aims at the heart of what NLP is all about.While many other books and individuals have tried to capitalize upon the methodologies within NLP, this book is probably where a lot of the other books derived from. Because of this, the book is highly concentrated with information about linguistics and most importantly, using it to your advantage.This highly distilled book is comprised essentially of the transcript of a seminar which doesn't allow for the best outlay that you may come to expect in a book. There is no table of contents or an index. Most of the seminar transcript is also where Grinder/Bandler are using the NLP to influence the audience, so you can actually see how masters of NLP use their technique.Some of the topics that are covered are: presuppositions, nominalizations, unspecified referential indexes, deletion, mind-reading, ordinal numerals, awareness predicates, and a whole slew of other techniques.It was only after the usage of this book that I truly began to integrate the use of NLP into my life and finally understood how language, pacing, breathing, and touching can truly allow someone to experience things in a different manner.This book took me a little extra time to digest, keeping in mind that the intended audience is well educated therapists. However, their speaking style is not difficult to comprehend and anyone wanting to learn NLP and you can do so very well with a solid study of this book.

If you master the skills in this book, anything you want for your life is within your grasp. A truly amazing book. So, what's in it?A three day seminar by Richard Bandler that teaches what some trainers charge $1600-$3000 to learn the same skills. Get it, if you use persuasion skills or hypnosis to help people, this is a great place to start. Magic is real. Real technique.

First, I agree with the reviewers about this not being a beginner's book. You would probably get more out of reading a different hypontism book first.NLP is a somewhat controversial approach to hypnotherapy. The version presented in this book is not really a science so much as an art, which requires deep personal experience and understanding to make work. For this reason it will always be on the fringes of psychotherapy. This book is one of the classic books about NLP and therefore should be read critically by anyone interested in it or related topics (including how the brain processes language).I found the book to crystalize what I had learned from life experience and by watching others. Given that experience I think I got a lot out of the book, perhaps more than the authors intended. However I can understand how others might take wrong turns trying to see this as some sort of short-cut (when it is really a power tool). Having said this, I think if folks read the book critically, it will lead to greater insight.I wasn't sure about all aspects of the book. For example, while I understand the idea of symptom substitution as a possible good, I found the examples in the book to be questionable in the long run (while they might be good for transitional measures, they seem to help rob an individual of the need to address some circumstances directly).All in all, though, a very thought-provoking book and worth reading.

Forrest Mims has been an electronics hobbyist since building a one tube radio kit at the age of 11. Following graduation from Texas A&M University in 1966 and service as a photo intelligence office in Vietnam, he worked for three years with high-powered lasers, solid-state instrumentation, and trained monkeys with the Air Force Weapons Laboratory in New Mexico. Since becoming a full-time writer in 1970, he's written several hundred magazine articles and scholarly papers. His articles and columns have appeared in virtually every significant electronics magazine, including Popular Electronics, Radio-Electronics, and Modern Electronics. His articles on other scientific topics have appeared in a wide range of other publications, including National Geographic World, Science Digest, Highlights for Children, and Scientific American. His editorial exploits have included an assignment from the National Enquirer to evaluate the feasibility of eavesdropping on Howard Hughes by laser (it was possible, but Forrest declined to take part) and getting dropped by Scientific American as their "The Amateur Scientist" columnist because he admitted to the magazine's editors that he was a born-again Christian. If you are interested in electronics, I would highly recommend reading this book. Despite the fact that technological components have surpassed many of the circuits contained in various chapters, the significance is the description of the circuit themselves. The "how and why" a particular circuit operates.The author is quite straightfoward in the description and operation of electronics. I highly recommend this scrapbook of electronic circuits and schematics.I have placed this book on the shelf with other favorites and it has become a reference by providing the ground work for circuit development.

My problem with this book is that I have not been able to get any of thecircuits to work. I have been doing electronics for a while and I don't thinkit is all my fault.

I purchased this book based on others previously written by Mr. Mimms. My old collection consisted of his 1980 edition of the Engineer's Notebook series and the Integrated Circuit Projects mini books previously available from Radio Shack. There always seems to be some overlap with his books. I was attempting to update my library since I had not been involved in circuit building for a while. I DO regret purchasing this book. As the title implies, this book should have remained his scrapbook. It contains typos, incomplete info and contradictions with his other published books while using some of the same IC's and circuits. As a result, some circuits don't work properly or not at all. One such example on page 129, the schematic of the general purpose amplifier. He has pin 1 of the 741 op amp as the output to the 386 chip. It should be pin 6 on the 741 chip (output). I attempted the circuit with his pinout and it would never work. Pin 1 is the offset null. Pin 6 is the output of the op amp. Other books of his state the 741 can use a single polarity power supply for non voice purposes and yet this same circuit uses such. He states the same circuit can be used with several type microphones or sensors etc. If used with a condenser mike it cannot be used without additonal parts.

Open this book anywhere and you are likely to find something interesting. I am a Forrest Mims fan. In this book he covers a wide range of subjects including circuits you can build to explore them further.
